#3 of 13 in Nature in Cafayate
Hike along the Colorado River to Cascadas del Rio Colorado, an 8 m (26 ft) waterfall suspended between two boulders. The hike takes some climbing, mostly along the riverbed. Along the way, you can see smaller waterfalls, ponds, and hills. Enjoy the scenic views, have a picnic, or take a dip in the waterfall. Bring suitable footwear and prepare for a challenging trek, as some parts are quite steep and riddled with rocks. • I made my girlfriend the way to the third waterfall. The road is not difficult and it is fun but the organization is a disaster. When you get to the entrance there is an ambush of alleged guides who tell you that you can't make the way for yourself and that they take you to the falls. There are two options: the first 3 for 350 pesos per person (2 hours say), or the 6 falls for 500 (5 hours say). We chose for lack of time the first. But this ended up being 2 hours but 1h 15 total. I felt robbed because the road to the third waterfall was not at all difficult to do and there were even people who had somehow passed the "guard of the entrance". When I came back I expressed my complaint and they died of laughter. Maybe for the long road it's worth a guide because it gets difficult. For the short is a scam and a hoax.

  • If you have a chance, go to the place. It is very beautiful the walk With regard to the guides, attention, some take advantage of what they want. While there are policemen at the entrance, sometimes they can't do anything and from the Municipality of Cafayate they can not do anything ... Say... There are different groups of guides and sometimes there are disputes between them as well. Perhaps the most responsible, are those of the "wayra", have telephone at the entrance and charge a reasonable price and work a little more organized, in addition to having a legal endorsement and legal entity. They also offer other kinds of experiences with people in the "the divisadero" community. It's beautiful place, pity that sometimes they go as opportunists. A "day of fury of any visitor-tourist" can end badly, feeling ripped off.
