Wildlife lovers go wild for Punta Tombo, a nature reserve sheltering the largest colony of Magellan penguins outside of Antarctica. Penguins come to the area from September to April to nest and look after their young, which are born in November. The rocky strip juts into the Atlantic Ocean, extending for roughly 3 km (1.86 mi). Visitors are free to enter the area and get close to the penguins, but must not touch or bother the creatures in any way. Bird enthusiasts also enjoy sightings of cormorants, oystercatchers, and kelp gulls. Just a couple hours' drive from Puerto Madryn, the park makes a worthwhile day trip. Punta Tombo Reviews
Impresionante la cantidad de pingüinos. La mejor parte es que la van al mar a buscar comida. Los chicos estaban súper contentos con la excursión. Muy pero muy buen. more »Impressive number of penguins. The best part is that they go to the sea to get food. The boys were super happy with the tour. Very but very good.

The access road is between 20 and 30 km of gravel. The important thing is to inform yourself before you go if it is already open (sometimes the penguins take longer to arrive) and at what stage they are. We went in the courtship and mating stage so we saw only adult penguins and some more nerding. The first time I went was in November and there were chicks and we could even see a birth. The place has an interpretation center bathrooms and a café. On the trail you can not eat or take mate (take into account before starting it as they are 1500 meters of walkways). It was a beautiful walk especially for the boys who could see the penguins in their habitat.
