Cerro San Bernardo
Hike or take a cable car up to Cerro San Bernardo for sweeping views over town. Rising 285 m (935 ft) above the city, the hill once stood as an island in a prehistoric sea--as evidenced now by a huge number of fossils and geological layers under its surface. A funicular from the city's central square whisks you up to the summit, where the plain and surrounding hills form an expansive landscape. Alternatively, tackle the 1,000-plus steps to the top of the hill. Keep an eye out for city landmarks like churches and stadiums emerging below. There is a decent snack bar at the top of the cable car ride. Good for empanadas and desserts. Unusually and a nice surprise a wide range of local bottled beers. I went for the Patagonia Weisse beer. more »

The walk up takes around 40 minutes, there are many places to rest. The view is great, there are restrooms, cafeteria, playground for kids, workout place, gift shops, and many places to sit and enjoy the view.

Coffe bar was OK place, but nothing more or special. My ice lolly was like an English one from the 1970s. Crisps and drinks OK. But place was a bit unloved. Good vantage pointcfor taking photos of city, though. Other nearby attractions like artificial waterfalls were good.
