  • We are a family of 4, my two children aged 7 and 9. We hired Poncho Tour after doing internet search and reading the fabulous reviews. It was really spectacular and exceeded all our expectations. Nick has a lot of knowledge of the history of both provinces and knows perfectly where to take us to get away from the masses of tourists and enjoy at the same time the best places in the area. Very friendly and sweet with the guys, who had fun hiking and climbing amazing places. A picninc that Nick glided about the Bishop's Slope was unforgettable. We highly recommend Poncho Tour for its exceptional service, warmth and originality. We want to return soon and of course we will contact you again.

  • My wife and I last July did a 10-day private tour through the Pune with Poncho tours. The tour, with a mainly photographic focus, was initially agreed with Nick. Among the needs expressed to Nick, there was also the possibility of organizing in different locations of the night sessions to take pictures of the stars. Nick was extremely helpful coming to meet our demands despite the prohibitive temperatures that can be reached at night in The Pune. Mariano has been our guide, and we cannot find enough words to describe how superb it has been. We travel a lot, but we can safely say that Mariano was the best guide we have ever had: perfect English, always precise, kind, with a great knowledge of the place, super available (even when we were at night, in the middle of nowhere at -16 degrees to take pictures of the stars!). In short, Mariano was not only a guide, but also an unforgettable travel companion. As for the views, the Pune is truly spectacular and extremely wild (much less touristy than the area of San Pedro de Atacama and the salar de Uyuni that we visited earlier): incredible rock formations, gigantic sand dunes at almost 4000 meters, mountains of absurd shapes and colors, volcanoes, passes at over 5000 meters, llamas, alpacas, vigour, lagoons of beautiful colors and much more. As mentioned above, the temperatures at night can be very cold, but during the day, at those altitudes, the sun is very strong and therefore the temperature can be more than pleasant. Facilities / "hotels" are very basic and in some places may lack electricity and hot water (you freeze the pipes at night!). But they are small inconveniences that are definitely worth enduring. I mean, super recommended!

  • Our seven-day tour with Poncho Tours was fantastic and truly memorable. Our trip from Salta included visits to salt flats, historic sites, some quirky churches, and to local towns, restaurants and crafts people. The ‘painter’s palette’ of colours in the mountains of the Quebrada de Humahuaca was amazing. After a day of acclimatisation (15km and ascending to 3400m) we travelled to Iruya and embarked the 2 day expedition with our local guide, Danny, to his parents’ farm up in the mountains. Despite the challenge for two retirees of trekking up to 3,500 metres, the experience of peace and tranquillity in the mountains, with condors occasionally circling overhead, will never be forgotten.
  • Excellent service. Professional and very knowledgeable of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day trip to Valles Calchaquies with Nick. Amazing!
