Friet Museum, Bruges
Learn about the legacy of the fried potato at Friet Museum, the only museum dedicated to what most know people as "French fries." Fries actually originated in Belgium, and this museum tracks the development of the ubiquitous side dish and its cultural significance to its home country. The same two families that opened the Belgium Chocolate Museum are responsible for this attraction, which is housed inside Bruges' oldest building. Start your tour with an overview of the history of potatoes, a mainstay crop for the nation. Move on to learn about the equipment used to cook them, from ovens to deep friers. Modern artists' versions of the fry in sculpture and painting are displayed alongside engaging exhibits celebrating Belgium's relationship to fries. If you've worked up an appetite, try a sample of the tasty fries at the end of your self-guided tour. Purchase your tickets when you arrive, or email the museum to make reservations. Make your own fries at home using recipes from their website. Use Inspirock's suggestions to plan your Bruges trip and find the best activities and attractions for your vacation.
Friet Museum Reviews
Als friet liefhebber van België was dit een super leuk evenement , Veel van geleerd en je kan zelfs een frietje krijgen in puntzak na afloop . more »As a French fries lover of Belgium This was a super fun event, a lot of learned and you can even get a frietje in paper cone afterwards.

The content is relatively uninteresting even if one appreciates the potato and the FRY. At the same time, difficult to make a museum on the subject... A lot of shells on the signs, not terrible. There is a restaurant where we are served surprisingly very good fries, Bravo for that
This is probably the best museum I’ve ever been to, although I could be biased because I really love chips. The displays are informative and interesting, if rather old-fashioned, but you’ll come away with genuine insight you might not otherwise have expected. Make time for chips in the basement - they’re among the best I’ve tasted.
This was definitely an interesting museum and took about 60 minutes. You learn about the "true" history of the French Fry. We downloaded the app and listened to the audio tour. This worked out perfectly for us and I would definitely recommend doing this instead of reading each section.
