Museum of the City of Brussels (Musee de la Ville de Bruxelles), Brussels

3.9
Discover how the capital city became what it is today at Museum of the City of Brussels (Musee de la Ville de Bruxelles). The museum showcases a scale model of Brussels in the Middle Ages and a whole host of artifacts specific to the city, including items used by all types of people, from craftsmen to aristocrats. Paintings, textiles, tapestries, and tools fill each room of the city hall, which houses the museum. You'll recognize the building by the ornate statuary and relief carvings that distinguish it in the Grand Place, the large square in the city center. Don't miss the display of 750 costumes for the city's iconic Mannequin Pis, the famous urinating fountain. The attraction is included on the BrusselsCard (available at the tourist office), or you can purchase a ticket upon arrival. • About that on the bought ticket it is possible to go to a museum of costumes of the writing boy I have read from comments, in the museum I have not seen any information and at purchase of the ticket also have not told anything. All the signatures to the exhibits are in French and Flomandian. In some places there were big lamented tablets in English and bedside tables with touch screens, there also it was possible to find the information in English. Most liked the stained glass windows. Open until 18:00, the entrance closes in 17:00

  • The information was very interesting but it is extremely long to read everything. We could not then have stayed there more than 2H.

  • Unexpectedly very interesting. There are very nice pieces of art mixed with something "historical" but really trashy. The most interesting part is for sure the one related to the history of Brussels. There are so many things to discover together with some actual gems that makes the museum absolutely worth it.
  • The building itself is very beautiful. I didn't see much of the city's history. It was more like art gallery instead of museum. One thing I didn't like at all was the lack of English explanation next to the shown items. The people that work, however, were very polite and they are the reason to give three stars. Of course there is no place to park your car near the place.
