El Cristo de la Concordia
Dominating San Pedro Hill, El Cristo de la Concordia represents the largest statue of Christ in the world--surpassing its more famous counterpart in Rio by a few centimeters. Outstretching its arms in a welcoming embrace, the steel and cement statue was supposed to be 33 m (108 ft) tall (matching Christ's age at the time of his death) but the few centimeters were added to reflect that Christ actually lived a bit longer than 33 years. Ride a cable car or climb the 1,250 steps from the base of the mountain to the top and you'll be rewarded with the views of the valley and the highest mountain peaks. On Sunday, you can climb to the top of the statue for even better vistas. Note that theft has been reported along the footpath. Bring your own water and snacks. Take my bike all the way up and I was pretty exhausted, after one or two flat tires. But at the top I had a great frozen homemade cupcake. Praise the Lord. more »

Don't go mondays if you can avoid it, the teleferico was closed and we had to pay for a taxi, normally you can climb up inside the statue, but it is also closed on mondays! On the upside, not many... more »

Fantastic place to visit, cheap food , so amazing. You must visit it!

Good and traditional place of the city where you can have great sights of the city, this statue is bigger than the corcovado of Rio of Janeiro in Brazil, if you do not fear altitude you can use the cableway to go to the top or just use a cap. Take your time because sometime there is a line waiting to use cableway, the cost is almost 1$ the ticket.
