Admire an interesting rock formation and focal point of the landscape at Arbol de Piedra. This "Stone Tree" juts out from the altiplano sand dunes within a national reserve, forming a shape that resembles a 7 m (23 ft) tall tree. Strong winds carry the sand that has carved the rock into its iconic shape by eroding the soft sandstone. Much photographed because of its characteristic natural design, the spot is a huge draw for impassioned photogs.     Nice place thought that the stone tree would be bigger. Although that does not take away the curiosity of how it was carved naturally. The other rock formations caught my attention the most.  more »

    Its kinda cool but i wouldnt go out of your way to visit this place. There are a bunch of flags from around the world, banos, a small shop.  more »

    Great quick pit stop on your way back to Uyuni. Interesting to see how the wind had carved in to the stones.

    The wind has created beautiful sculptures here, with the Arbol Piedra (the Rock Tree) as an absolute highlight. Combine this with the empty plain where the rocks are and the snow-stained mountains and you have an unforgettable experience. Take a walk among the rocks and discover the yareta / llareta (Azorella Compacta) and the southern vizcacha (Lagidium Viscacia).
