  • The National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida Is said to be the 2nd largest basilica in the world, after The Vatican. It's a very modern cathedral and, indeed, it IS huge. I was most impressed by the quality of music sung by the talented priests who are posted at this Shrine.
  • A wonder of the Catholic world, this Shrine competes in size with the national shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, but the cross shaped building around the tiny image of Our Lady of Aparecida is far more imposing. The complex includes several chapels, dining areas, nearby restaurants, hundreds of religious shops and, very Brazilian style, the largest parking lot in the world
