    I totally recommend this silent small and picturesque beach located in a quite area of the Florianopolis far from the city center or partying Lagoa da Conceicao. The name Armação comes from the old economic activity in the area and the site was used for the production of whale oil. It was the common type of oil for street and houses lights in XIX century. Also other parts of whales were used, such as meat, fat and even fins. As a result, overfishing led to extinction of whales in the area in a middle of XIX century.
