#1 of 25 in Museums in Belem
Devoted to the protection and promulgation of the forest, the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi is the heart of Amazonian research. In addition to serious research activities, the institute houses a museum open to the public. The museum showcases the Amazon’s diversity in a controlled environment, which allows you to discover its mysteries along with the scientists working next door. The artifacts in the museum track humanity's relationship to the forest, both as an adversary and a partner in the natural order of things. Investigate the catalogue of animal and plant species that call the Amazon home. You will be amazed with the sheer number of species discovered and truly impressed with how many of these species are beneficial for human life. You’ll also learn about the conservation efforts helping to preserve one of the world's most important resources. Plan a trip to Belem easily and quickly by telling Inspirock to suggest an itinerary.

  • Not just a museum, but a huge botanical garden-like facility with wildlife roaming free about the park, and animals rescued from the region. Hundreds-year-old trees, two leopards, one giant alligator and two smaller ones (but still huge), aquarium, serpents den, turtles, and giant otters. The museum is also a research facility and has other campuses deep in the Amazon jungle where they offer graduate courses and research facilities. The museum now has a coffee shop and a souvenir store where people can buy arts and crafts handmade by local artists.
  • you will face a samplr of the amazonian forest! 100% recommand to visit
