Trip Planner: South America / Brazil / State of Minas Gerais / Belo Horizonte / Inima de Paula Museum
Inima de Paula Museum is a beautiful tribute to the artist, José de Paula, who died in 1999. It’s centrally located in one of the most bohemian and traditional corners of the city. The collection contained within is amazing with nearly 2000 works, a workshop, and virtual gallery. There are permanent exhibits on two of the four floors showcasing the evolution of the city, Belo Horizonte, which is over 100 years old. Other temporary exhibits, along with free concerts, make for a dynamic experience at this museum. Inima de Paula Museum Reviews
Único. O museu Inimá de Paula possui uma boa coleção de arte, com a exposição principal no primeiro andar, do próprio Inimá de Paula, entre suas obras há explicações sobre a vida e o período artístico... more »Only. The Inimá de Paula Museum has a good collection of art, with the main exhibition on the first floor of Inimá de Paula itself, among its works there are explanations about the painter's life and artistic period, some more focused on Expressionism, others focused on Criticism due to the dictatorship period, there are other works in this collection. There is also the section of autos portraits, which are separated from the Great Hall, it is very worthwhile to check these as well. The second floor, when I visited in June 2019, there was an exhibition named the ÁfricaBrasil roots of Alyson Carvalho and curated by Cláudia Jannotti, in which photographs were exhibited bringing the black representativeness of our country. With touches of our history and its own history brought elements that portrayed well what they wanted to pass, including bringing self knowledge through the photographs. On the top floor, and for me the best exhibition was the Madonas Brasileiras, in which they depicted the milk-nannies that are the basis of this country. Well chosen all the pieces, with a text of reflection, in which can not ignore the work done by them. The establishment has a great structure, accessibility and well-trained staff and very good people.

Great museum for Belo Horizonte, in a bohemian neighborhood. Don’t miss edificio maleta just nearby.
