  • Known to the people of Minas Gerais as "Queen of Scrap" due to the use of various types of materials incorporated in the characteristic work of Minas Gerais, from steel plates of the metallurgical industries to stones such as quartzite, slate and soapstone. The museum's collection consists of about 3,000 pieces between rare rocks and gems and high economic value. At the entrance to the Mining Museum is quartz considered one of the largest in the world and called patriarch. Originally the building housed the Tancredo Neves Tourist Support Center and Turminas. The museum is part of the Freedom Square Tourist Circuit.
