Trip Planner: South America / Brazil / State of Minas Gerais / Belo Horizonte / Palacio da Liberdade
On weekends and public holidays, Palacio da Liberdade opens its doors to the public with a permanent exhibition entitled "Palace of Liberty - Memories and Stories." Opened in 1897, the palace was for many years the seat of government in Belo Horizonte, and has been the scene of many decisions that have shaped the nation. Equally as fascinating as the building's political history are the eclectic architecture and decor. The exterior of the building combines numerous European styles, of which the neo-classical elements are predominant, whilst the decor ranges from Louis XV, to Moorish, to Art Nouveau. On the tour you pass through 30 sumptuous rooms filled with crystal chandeliers, gilded bronze, parquet floors and rich furniture. The centerpiece of the palace is an iron staircase, cast in Germany, in the Art Nouveau style. Plan my trip to Belo Horizonte with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

Sede do governo do estado até a construção da cidade administrativa, é um dos prédios da praça da Liberdade. Imposing and sumptuous, it is very difficult and bureaucratic to get a visit inside.
The luxury and wealth with which our rulers live is frightening, influences from the colonial Brazil, it arrives to be immoral; The place has a wonderful garden with lake, gazebo and glass greenhouse, the building with eclectic architecture influenced by various styles, with gold-plated furnishings, giant chandeliers, huge paintings, worthy of European mansions. It's worth the visit. The walk in the gardens is released and closes at 16:00HS, to visit the building has to schedule the site.
It's really amazing the place. Visits are made on Sundays from 9 to 16h. Guided tours must be withdrawn by the site of the cultural circuit Praça da Liberdade. It's worth it.
