A concrete hyperboloid architecture constructed from 16 concrete columns, Catedral Metropolitana is a landmark cathedral by Oscar Niemeyer. This contemporary structure is surprising large on the inside considering its small exterior because the cathedral is largely built underground. As you stroll along the entrance pathway, bronze statues of the four apostles greet you.
You'll walk through a dark tunnel under a reflecting pool surrounding the roof to enter the building. This pool helps to cool the building. Walls lined with white marble and three angels suspended from the ceiling create a light, airy feel. Although you'll feel like you're entering a dark, solemn, and small space, intense natural welcomes you through the large roof's 2,000 m2 (22,000 sq ft) of stained glass. Inside you can contemplate a mix of amazing colors in the glazing. It's really cool when you ask a person to stay on the other side of the wall and whisper, and she can hear you perfectly. All this happens by the magical architecture of the place. If I could, I would throw the images of Christ away because they are blasphemous to the 2nd commandment.
Um dos Cartões Postais obrigatórios em conhecer para quem vai a Brasília. Imperdível. Ver os Anjos pendurados que parecem flutuar no ar; os vitrais, a cripta e a lindíssima arquitetura. See the Hanging angels that seem to float in the air; The stained glass windows, the crypt and the beautiful architecture. It's worth it, you don't pay to come in and you can still talk to God in his house.
Very beautiful and spacious, it is worth visiting!
