A concrete hyperboloid architecture constructed from 16 concrete columns, Catedral Metropolitana is a landmark cathedral by Oscar Niemeyer. This contemporary structure is surprising large on the inside considering its small exterior because the cathedral is largely built underground. As you stroll along the entrance pathway, bronze statues of the four apostles greet you.
You'll walk through a dark tunnel under a reflecting pool surrounding the roof to enter the building. This pool helps to cool the building. Walls lined with white marble and three angels suspended from the ceiling create a light, airy feel. Although you'll feel like you're entering a dark, solemn, and small space, intense natural welcomes you through the large roof's 2,000 m2 (22,000 sq ft) of stained glass. Catedral Metropolitana Reviews
We visited on a rainy day but even this couldn’t subtract from the cathedral’s beauty and stylistic design. Inside it was so colourful and, I can imagine, an absolute joy for worshipers. more »

Amazing place, detail in acoustics. Take the test of talking to the walls ;)
