You just have to be careful with the possibility of assaults, they still exist. So, it's better to walk in groups. If you want to do heavier activity, look for a cardiologist or other reliable physician, because although there is a defibrillator in the park, it will be very useful if you have an acute heart condition (the park is relatively distant from hospitals with Good emergency services). If you are not a professional athlete, the safest, is to walk, or practice light activities, with low impact and the park is lavish in offering means for it. There are closed pavilions to watch "in door" games, but I think the best is the park itself, with water, green, animals and many people with high spirits. The environment is usually silent. There are options for food and beverages around, although in the surroundings, there are places for more complete meals (from bars to barbecues in the Vila Nova neighborhood-The Smile steakhouses and Frog-Chu are my favorites). There are great supermarkets dalbem and Covabra (this is closer on the avenue Empress Leopoldina, on the ascent to the castle) if you want to go early and come home with some shopping on weekends. It is possible romantic walk, with family (children or teenagers and even elderly people).
To walk around the lake and calm down it's a good possibility
Great place if you love of being physically fit and healthy.
