Ilha do Guajiru, Itarema

#2 of 6 in Things to do in Itarema
Must see · Island · Nature / Park
Although it is called an island, Ilha do Guajiru is actually a lush peninsula, once used as a coconut plantation, and covered in Guajirú bushes--the sweet, red berries that give the area its name. The year-round sunshine that once attracted the coconut farmers, today attracts beach-goers and lovers of watersports. A long spit of sand, running parallel to the beach, creates a calm lagoon, which is perfect for kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking and swimming. On land, you can explore the green island by foot, cycle, or quad, or simply stretch out on the pristine, white sands. • The Ilha is our favorite choice for kitesurfing. A nice big lagoon, steady wind and basic infrastructure. Different options for a downwinder and by crossing the dune you are in the open sea to play....  more »
  • Excellent stay, good service, very friendly staff, and above all an infinity pool ànd cocktail bar in your own garden with a view to the sea!!. Waht more can you wish for? :))  more »
  • Flat water spot, perfect. Wind in Prea is better though
  • Tide and the crowd are too much for this place, but at high tide with less people is among the best kite spots
