Farol do Morro, or “Lighthouse Hill,” is the a personal paradise created by Antonio and Rosita Couto. So stunned by the view and the location, the couple decided to share their newfound paradise with other travelers opening a hotel on the magical site in 1986. Nowadays, guests of the hotel and visitors frequent the restaurant for the pristine views accessible from one of the busiest walking streets in Morro de São Paulo. Arrive in the afternoon, before the dinner rush, to grab a table overlooking the water.     I hiked up late in the afternoon to watch the sunset, as recommended. It's a very steep hike with a lot of steps, and of course fire hot in the summer. There were people letting their dogs run...  more »

    Highly recommend walk up to the Morro it self, you’ll get to see island from both sides. Good to watch sun go down and to some climbing with kids.  more »
