Morro do Careca, Natal

#2 of 18 in Wildlife in Natal
Beach · Nature / Park
Located at the extreme southern end of the popular Ponta Negra, Morro do Careca includes a large dune that has become an iconic landmark of the city. This beach features an unusual combination of water, dunes, and lush vegetation, with its "Bald Hill" rising 120 m (374 ft) into the air. Though climbing of the hill was official forbidden in the 1990s in order to protect its fragile ecosystem against erosion, you can swim, snorkel, dive, kayak, windsurf, or simply relax right on the water’s edge. This entire area is completely urbanized, with numerous shops, bars, restaurants, and hotels. The sand is lined with huts selling food and drinks throughout the day and late into the night. • Lot of 'kioskos' (beach chiringuitos) - my favorite is N°5, from Ignacio. Lot of seller's on the beach, you can have great pancakes (try carne de sol com queijo or Chocolate / banana), Great skewers.....  more »
  • It´s a lovely view to have a hill near the beach, there are so many bars, and restaurants along the seaside where you can rent umbrella and chairs to be there for a while.  more »
  • Perfect place to swim or have a drink while enjoying the scenery
  • You can't climb up it. But the area itself is fun to visit. Little coves with little beaches and lovely places for pictures.
