Historic Site · Park
Get away from tourists and enjoy old-style colonial Brazil at Parque Lage, a public park at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain. Spanning 52 hectares (128.4 acres), the park was designed in 1840 by an English landscaper. Take one of the many walking trails in the subtropical forest with imperial palm trees, and enjoy spotting monkeys and toucans resting in the treetops. A stately colonial-style building with a tranquil courtyard pool dominates the park: once an old sugar mill, the structure now houses an art school. Visit caves, little ponds, and an artificial island, and have a picnic in the quiet, exotic setting. Check out the art or a music performance, or savor a coffee and snack inside the mansion. • The place is a university, and the restaurant inside of the long forest park..very beautiful nice to walk around  more »
  • The huge wait to get inside the beautiful building while wearing a mask ruined it for me. Midday here is not ideal.  more »

  • Parque Lage is one of the main attractions that you can visit for free in Rio de Janeiro. There you have beautiful angles to take beautiful photos and more. Here is where pat of the Snoop Dog video clip, beautiful was filmed. All things considered, is a must when you're in Rio. If you're ever in need of a local guide, please get in touch with me through my social media @vinibomz.
  • I always saw people on Instagram going to this garden and always wanted to go. Took a trip to Brazil and came to visit it and honestly the pictures don’t even do the park justice. I went on a cloudy and rainy day and the view was beautiful !!!! It has a few parks, a lot of trees and a huge fountain. I didn’t get a chance to go through the entire park but as per the map they have a few waterfalls. Would def love to come back and spend an entire day exploring
