Rodrigo de Freitas Lake, Rio de Janeiro

4.6
Walk, skate, jog, or cycle the pathway encircling Rodrigo de Freitas Lake, which features numerous convenient spots from which you can photograph the Tijuca Forest and Corcovado Mountain. Along the way, grab a light snack and a refreshing drink from one of many kiosks dotting the 8-km (5 mi) track. You can row, sail, or water ski on the lake, but if your prefer to just bob on the water and admire the sights, rent a small paddle boat from one of several stands located on the eastern side of the lagoon. Visit the area in the evening to enjoy live music, mingle with the locals, and watch the sunset with a cold drink in hand. A visit to Rodrigo de Freitas Lake represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Rio de Janeiro trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • One of the postcards of Rio is Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Wide, well wooded, with sidewalks to walk or run, and with a beautiful look. Location that should not cease to be visited.

  • Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is in a privileged location of the city, with a differentiated audience since its surroundings are occupied by some of the buildings with the most valuable properties of the city. That is, the local public is of a more wealthy class!! Apart from this fact, the local nature is very beautiful! The frequency of the promenade in the vicinity of the lagoon is beautiful people who use the place for hiking and jogging. The city Olympics also highlighted the venue since several competitions were played there (for example, canoeing). In addition, bars and restaurants also populate the premises. A good place to accompany a beautiful sunset or even a sunrise!!

  • The lagoon is massive & spills out to the Atlantic Ocean via a small canal running through the city. This is the same lagoon the media heralded as overly polluted prior to the World Cup and Olympics. This is not the case! It is blue and tranquil.
  • Nice place to visit Rio. It’s perfect to jogging, walk or just be near from nature. Good options to eat too.
