Ibirapuera Planetarium, Sao Paulo

4.0
#2 of 15 in Childrens Museums in Sao Paulo
With a building shaped like a flying saucer and a 20-meter (66-foot) dome encasing a Zeiss projector, Ibirapuera Planetarium offers entertainment and education all in one spot. The German projection machine housed inside shows the sky above São Paulo from dusk to dawn. Check out at least one of these projection shows and hear a professional astronomer explain the most famous stars and constellations, as well as the movements of the Earth and other planets. Originally opened in the 1950s, this was the very first planetarium in the Southern Hemisphere. After extensive renovations and improvements, it reopened in 2006. The planetarium is located in the Ibirapuera Park, one of the largest city parks in all of Latin America. • I've been attending the Ibirapuera planetarium ever since. The opening song of the session, to show the sky of São Paulo, while the brightness of the sky is decreasing and the image of the sky was appearing, should be the initial part of the piece ' So spoke Zaratustra ', by Richard Strauss: It is much more exciting! In fact, the waiting songs (before the start of the session) are not interesting, nor are they related to the environment or the subjects related to space images. I would like the music to be compatible with the affairs related to astronomy. There is so much music better than those that have been conveed... Besides, I find the sessions very instructive. Thank you.

  • Very weak, even weak, structure is precarious, has leaks and mildew by many areas. Really a disaffair with the culture of this country.

  • It is a great place. Unfortunately the kids show is low quality. The facility though is really nice and comfortable. Nice staff and good price. One suggestion it to buy your tickets online. Kids pay 4 Reais, adult 8 Reais.
  • amazing place for kids and adults. Worth the visit to discover the universe in a fun way
