  • Is a small but very interesting Museum: it has objects and explanatory panels about the marine life well, the main axis of the instructional display. But also, there are permanent sessions Science on a Sphere, that are worth to be seen: among other things, shows us images of the Sun, moon, Mars; a documentary on water (a escassíssimo feature these days) and an animation of the air traffic on the planet during various periods of the day (this, to me, is the coolest sight). As a student of the University of São Paulo, had already visited the Museum in other opportunities, and, in relation to the previous collection, I deplore the decreased amount of aquariums and the closing of another great which occupied a wall. However, despite this, you can't help but see him. And for those who, seeing the exhibition, cheer up forward even more, the Oceanographic Institute offers, every six months, the Notions of Oceanography course (free, on a Sunday morning). Finally, for those of you at campus of USP and want to take advantage of, you can also visit the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology (MAE) and the Museum of the Institute of Geology; are very close to the Oceanographic Museum. I visited today in 29/03/2017; but I've made several other visits before.

  • Attention! Museum is closed, no visitation until March 2019. At least. There's no warning on the site. Just a printed sheet glued to the scene. "Museum is closed for restructuring. Reopening forecast in March 2019. " Quite a disagreement with anyone who travels. But this is very typical of USP. I always recommend calling before to confirm information.
