#71 of 1,171 in Things to do in Sao Paulo
The first match at Pacaembu Stadium took place on April 27, 1940. Named after Paulo Machado de Carvalho, the stadium seats 37,952 people and has a pitch of 104 m (341.2 ft) by 70 m (230 ft). Although you’ll see a sea of seats for about 40,000 people at the stadium, the attendance record is over 71,000 for a soccer match between Sao Paulo and the Corinthians. Besides the cheering of crowds and the shouting of “goal, goal, goal,” the stadium also saw action as a pit stop in the Amazing Race and as a venue for Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Brazil. • One of the biggest assets in the city. That does not deserve to be privatized by the Tucano government of Joãozinho Dória. Pacaembu Stadium is ours.

  • I find the best stadium in question of access in the city of Sao Paulo, good to arrive by Metro, good for parking, in the heart of the city! Whenever the SPFC plays in the stadium I do not miss the chance to watch, taking away all the mystique of the stadium that have already spent so many incredible players. Always worth the visit to watch a good game of football "in mine, in yours, in our Pacaembu"
