Home to various museums and monuments, Parque Ibirapuera is one of the city’s most important recreational and cultural areas. This green area features sprawling areas designated for picnicking, jogging, cycling, and walking. The park’s importance to the city, locals claim, is comparable to that of Central Park to the residents of New York City. One of Latin America’s largest urban parks, the site opened in 1954 to mark the 400th anniversary of the city. Many of the park’s buildings were designed by famed architect Oscar Niemeyer, while the landscaped green zones were planned by agronomist Otávio Agusto de Teixeira Mendes. The park is home to the Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the iconic Obelisk of Sao Paolo, symbol of Brazil’s Constitutional Revolution. Nice park, lots to see from drum circles to the soccer museum. Overall the park is clean and safe. You can rent bikes of walk it. Think of it as central park. Good place to get away and enjoy and... more »
What a great park. Reminds me of Central Park in New York. But better they have dedicated bike and walking and running lanes. places to do sports or just sit around and play in the playground or lay in the shade. Beautiful vegetation beautiful trees great little nature trails as well. What a great park to have in a city like this.
It's a nice spot in the city. If you want to run or do some outside activities, it's a good choice. Also, Saturdays are free fee to the Museum Afro Brazil (it's located at the Park.) This place is very interesting. They have a huge collection. The museum is a good choice to enjoy a raining day.
