Butterfly Conservatory, Niagara Falls

Enter the world of colorful insects at Butterfly Conservatory, located just minutes from the world-famous waterfalls. Sheltering over 2,000 butterflies that fly freely through the lush vegetation, this modern insect zoo features a climate-controlled greenhouse, 200-seat theater, and a large gift shop. Most of the conservatory's butterflies come from farms in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Australia, and the Philippines. Special nets stretched along the conservatory's glass dome keep the fragile creatures from entangling and dying of hypothermia. Boost your chances that butterflies land on you by wearing brightly colored clothing, moving slowly, and dabbing some perfume just before entering. • The different butterflies were amazing. I was able to hold one on my finger. There were so many colors and types of butterflies. If I ever come back I would deffinantly do it again.  more »

  • Absolutely beautiful! My husband and I went here as one of our tours to Niagara Falls for our anniversary and this was really cool. There is a lot of care that goes into this conservatory and it was a really cool experience. They have a viewing port where you can see the butterfly developing and they even had some coming out of their chrysalis. Many of the butterflies are pretty social and will land on you or let you pick them up. They have fruit laid out everywhere so you can also watch them feed. Definitely worth it to just relax and enjoy nature🐢🦋
  • This place was pretty neat and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area. It's something you can do and enjoy in an hours time. They have a learning area and exhibit where you can learn about how they raise and take care of the butterflies. You can also walk around amongst all the butterflies which was pretty neat.
