Pretty special place that lives up to its reputation. I was interested in Haida culture before I went here, now I’m fascinated by it. Take your time and soak this all in. If timing permits, I recommend taking a free guided tour. Be sure to check out the outside where Bill Reid created a traditional Haida House with totem poles. There are also hiking trails around the building that would be worth your time. This is a must stop if you are in Vancouver.

I highly recommend the Museum of Anthropology for several hours in the morning or afternoon. The museum has over 40,000 items on exhibit, mainly from First Nation in the Pacific Northwest where more than 30 languages were spoken. The free tours are with the hour needed, which are very informative. The museum gives many insights in the self sustaining original inhabitants into their art and culture as well as the impacts of European settlement. There is also an interesting section of tin glazed earthenware with 600 items across European history.
