Casa de Isla Negra, Isla Negra

Built on a rocky headland overlooking the ocean, Casa de Isla Negra commemorates the life and work of this world-famous poet. The residence features a ship-like interior and a number of eccentric collections, including a huge number of shells in the "Under the Sea" room. Watch the short video about Neruda's life in the lobby. Walk under the low ceilings, through narrow passageways, and across the creaking wooden floors of the rooms decorated with ship figureheads, maps, ships in bottles, masks, and wooden carvings from all over the world. See the huge tusk of a narwhal, which Neruda brought from Norway. Enter the master bedroom, and notice how the bed faces windows with a clear view of the ocean. Neruda lived in the house with his third wife, and the claim that this was his favorite residence is supported by the fact that both spouses were buried here. • chile has several attractions, but the one that impacted me the most was the home of pablo neruda in black isla. amazing that few people know how to inform right how to get there on their own. What to do? take a bus through the blue bay at sur terminal (near alameda station and also called central station, but I avoid the name because there is a central station, of ferrocarriles) and ask the collector to jump in black isla. the bus stops in front of a slope on the beach. go straight down, turn around and walk a little to the left that arrives at the house. if you have an international student card, the price is much lower. the entry is around 7000 Chilean pesos (multiply by 0.0057 to know how much it is in real-October 2019). you choose your language (Portuguese, Spanish, English, etc.) and receive a recorder through which, in each room, clicks and learns the history of each of the objects (thousands) there and how pablo used each. will find that neruda was not a poet because he wrote poems, but, like Vinicius, lived poetically. this was, in fact, the neruda house, where he and his wife are buried. the view is beautiful, the restaurant is not cheap (the dish is individual, even) and, to return to santiago, if the box office that is at the foot of the slope is closed (only sell the round-trip hourly), take a circular bus and ask to stop near the bus terminal of saint antonio. if there is, in the terminal, another option other than pulman, prefer. costs more than double that of the blue bay. waterproof tour, forget other things and mark a day for it if you stay in santiago. Ah, if you have a camcorder, the one-way trip shows an incredible landscape.

  • It was a pleasant surprise. Although I really liked Neruda, I thought it would be another one of those boring visits, but to my surprise, it was very interesting. This house was its last dwelling and the historical contents are very large. I recommend tracking with audio because it is fundamental to the visit. The place where the house is located is also a spectacle apart.

  • Excellent exhibit of what was the home of Pablo Neruda. Stunning view of the chilean coast. Contrary to what the name of the name implies "isla" (island in Spanish) it is located on the main land.
  • This is my favorite of all of Neruda's houses, the house itself it's beautiful, but also the beach and the surroundings are lovely
