See the city from the top of Our Saviour's Church, built of red and yellow bricks in the Dutch Baroque style. Although builders completed work on the church in 1695, it took nearly six more decades to finish its famous corkscrew spire, which was designed by architect Lauritz de Thurah. According to urban legend, the architect jumped to his death from the top of his creation when he realized it twisted in the counterclockwise direction. The spire reaches a height of 90 m (295 ft) and features an external staircase, which you can climb for a suggested fee. Be sure to explore the interior of the church, noted for housing an altarpiece depicting Jesus and two angels, considered the masterpiece of artist Nicodemus Tessin. Our Saviour's Church Reviews
Ce bâtiment est de toute beauté et il est possible de grimper les 400 marches jusqu’à la pointe. Vous aurez une vue imprenable sur la ville de Copenhague. Really beautiful, better from a distance though like most tall structures. Didn't go up purely due to how hot the weather was but looked fab. See from Christina lake. more »
Best vantage point of Copenhagen. It is quite an adventure to reach to the top as you go through the wooden staircases and get to see huge copper bells on the way. There is a huge musical organ on the top level just before going towards the stairs to open roof. The copper stairs are a wonderful thing to see and are a wonderful experience as you walk towards a point from where you can see a wonderful view of Copenhagen. This place may not be open in during bad weather.
Super nice church. The climb up top is perfect. If you have fear of hights, i don't know if it is for you. You can go to the balcony, and remain there. The best part is till the very top. The view is amazing, the fence is not that big, it doesn't affect your view at all! For me, it was the best thing to do on my trip yo Copenhagen. This and the free tour. Totally recommend.
