Radhuspladsen, Copenhagen

2.8
Radhuspladsen serves as an important spot for the city, as it's a popular venue for demonstrations and street performances. City hall is the most notable building on the square; it was erected between 1892 and 1905 at the site of an old hay market. The square features many sculptures and fountains, including a statue of H.C. Andersen and a fountain depicting a fight between a bull and a dragon. Notice the rotating sculpture of a girl perched high on the Richs building, telling the weather. When the weather is clear the statue of a girl comes out with her bicycle, and when it is raining the girl holds an umbrella. • Currently in full refurbishment for local city transport upgrade. The main building stands out as the Town Hall, which also gives a size to the other palaces. Hub of the city and for more European size than the typical characteristics of the Danish capital.

  • Town Hall Square is definitely one of the most important in the city, it is always animated and crowded, during my trip there were celebrations for the Gay Pride, a stage was mounted and various stands around, the event lasted several days, fortunately before I went away I managed to see the square clear, and admire it in all its splendor.
