Learn about the history of agriculture by exploring rural buildings from all regions of Denmark at The Open Air Museum. More than 50 buildings dating from 1650-1940 have been moved, brick by brick, from their original locations to the museum grounds. See manor houses, farms, mills, and workshops. A guild of volunteers operates regularly on some of the six mills. Look for an island farmhouse roofed with kelp. The museum also features 25 historic gardens and cultural landscapes, as well as old Danish breeds of livestock. Choose a memento from a selection of textiles and jewelry based on old-fashioned designs at the museum shop. On busy days, use the larger parking at the northern entrance. • It is huge area with different buildings and workshops from various time periods. You will not be bored - it is possible to get inside every building and experience the atmosphere! Children will be kept entertained, too! There is a circus area with funny short shows, a small contact zoo and cafes!
  • This is located about 50 minutes away by public transportation from Copenhagen city centre. Many options to reach it. The park is immense, with tens of houses moved or reconstructed showing hundreds of years of rural life and also noblemen life. A part of it has large surface without houses, so a lot to walk without really seeing things. It is a good museum.
