The Funen Village, Odense
Discover the traditional life of Danish farmers from the time of Hans Christian Andersen at The Funen Village. This open-air museum was founded as a public works project in 1942 during the German occupation. Some 30 original buildings were moved to the museum from various sites in the Funen region. Walk down the village street along half-timbered houses, flower gardens, and fenced enclosures with livestock. With the living history you can experience the atmosphere of a day in the country in the 18th century. Smell beer brewing, watch a young girl helping the mistress in the kitchen, and hear the sound of the blacksmith's hammer. Very interesting place. If you're in the area it's an nice stop and they have some very good exhibits. If you're a history buff you'll really enjoy it.
If you around or passing through the city, you must check out Funen Village. It’s a place where the time shifts backwards. You will be able to see how people lived their live in the near past and how they entertained their selves. They offer explanation and description for every thing in English. I visited the place as a part of a family vacation. Our only problem was the hot weather due to the wave that was hitting Europe, so try not to go there during hot sunny days.
