    Long hike, need to be some what fit or you can go on horseback. Wear a hat and use sunscreen. Very unique experience.  more »

    Great morning hike but don’t expect to see anything due to the fog and be prepared for rain and super muddy shoes. So not sure if the $40 volcano tour is really worth it.

    Arriving at Sierra Negra volcano is amazing, it's huge.....a vast black carpet of volcanic rock covers it's surface, thats were its name derives from. Hiking around the crater and arriving at the northernmost is called volcan chico. In this area there are lots of small craters that are active and you see steam coning out if cracks. The views are outstanding and breathtaking. Very recommended.
