Ranking as one of the highest statues in the world, La Virgen del Panecillo stands as an aluminum sculpture assembled with more than 7,000 pieces. Built to honor the Virgin Mary, the statue depicts a graceful, serene image complete with wings and floral halo. Since the statue’s completion in 1974, the image has served as an icon of the city and a top sightseeing attraction.
