Currently the seat of the French Senate, Luxembourg Palace is a 17th-century palace with original artwork and a grand salon you can tour. The palace was commissioned by Marie de Médici in 1625, and the painting "Coronation of Marie de' Médici in St.-Denis" is displayed in the Gallery of Residents. • It is a true palace, as seen in the films, a large building built between 1615 and 1645. It is situated in the great Garden of Luxembourg and is currently the seat of the French Senate. It is free entry, but controlled access, and only being able to visit on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, as long as the Senate is not in work.

  • This palace faces the Luxembourg Park. It used to be used as a capitol of the French government's Senate. In addition, it is a building that appears on the stage of history, such as the throne of Napoleon Bonaparte. When I approached, soldiers or police officers with rifles were on tight security to threaten us.

  • Beautiful landscape, touring the garden area is a must! But be wary of doing so on a sunny day, it will be busy for sure! I went when it was slightly rainy and cloudy, and while there were still a lot of people it wasn't too bad. Not sure if you're allowed to have picnics here - certainly no one was stopping for a meal when I was there - but it would be a great place to relax over lunch.
  • Beautiful but beaware of of going in the rain. Will destroy your shoes. However there are a few nice pavilions to take shelter in. Check out the fountain, it really is lovely. Across the street there's several good cafes with a view of then palace.
