Hailed as one of the most important buildings within the city of Strasbourg in Alsace France, Palais de Rohan stands as a monument to local baroque architecture. Over the course of its history, it has housed three of the most important museums located within the city limits: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Decorative Arts, and the Museum of Fine Arts. The Galerie Robert Heitz, a city gallery, is located within a side wing of the palace. Originally commissioned by Cardinal Aarmand Gaston Maximilen de Rohan, Bishop of Strasbourg, palace architect Joseph Massol erected the castle between 1731 and 1742. Come walk the same halls Napoléon Bonaparte strolled back in 1805, 1806, and 1809. The castle itself has seen its fair share of tragedies, including a fire in 1870, and later, English and American bombs during the 1940s. The sprawling architectural masterpiece was restored in the 1990s and opened its doors to an adoring public. Palais de Rohan Reviews
Wir haben uns das im gleichen Gebäude untergebrachte "Archäologische Museum" ge-bzw-erspart, um mehr Zeit für die beiden anderen Museen zu gewinnen. Located on the ground floor, the "Arts and Crafts Museum" impresses above all with the magnificent rooms of the bishops and their equipment. If you also want to see the watch department, you should schedule the visit so that you have time for it at 2 p.m. 15. The first floor shows examples of Flemish still lifes.

It was built as a bishop's office, and currently houses three different museums, Musée Arqueologique, Musée des Beaux Arts and Musée des Arts Figurative. We chose the fine arts, which contains a collection of paintings from the Italian Renaissance, with Giotto Raffaello, Tintoretto and others, up to local painters and the Dutch of the golden century. The flagship painting of this museum is considered "La Belle Strasbourgise" by the local painter Nicolas de Largilliere which depicts a young noble woman, very elegant and refined, with her little dog, a sign of distinction and a high social class. The price of the ticket is 6.50 euros for a museum or 12 euros for all three. The boys didn't pay.
This grand, elegant building houses three museums - the fine art and archaeology museums are both very interesting, the decorative arts museum less so. Signage at the entrance isn't great - push on the doors and hope for the best!
