Wander through the buzzing stalls of Viktualienmarkt, Munich's largest outdoor market. Originally started as a farmer's market in the early 19th century, the market has become a popular delicatessen. You can find gourmet goods and locally made products, as well as an array of fresh meats and produce. Pick up a loaf of fresh, oven-baked bread and a refreshing, fresh-squeezed juice. Walk around to admire the abundance of hand-made Bavarian goods. Stop by the beer garden if you'd like a typical meal of German sausages. Plan to see Viktualienmarkt and other attractions that appeal to you using our Munich trip planner.

  • I liked it. Nice market in the city center. You can find fruits and vegetables, but also meat and cheese. There is a big brewery in the middle of the market. It is nice to walk through, take a break. It is allowed to eat your own food in the brewery if you buy a bear. Not a bad deal.
  • If you're a tourist do try out some of the Wine places and Fresh Meat Products like Bratwurst or Leberkäse you will definitely find good options, better than other ones you can find in the city. Fresh produce and other interesting items will always catch your eye. A lovely place for a stroll and a meal.
