#81 of 1,237 in Things to do in Amsterdam
Home to Dutch soccer's Ajax and host to a multitude of other sports and music events, Johan Cruyff Arena also claims the title of the largest stadium in the Netherlands. With a sports capacity of more than 53,000 people and retractable roof, the stadium offers guided tours for a chance to see up-close the field, player facilities, and press stand and to learn more about the complex's daily workings. Tours are not available on match days; be sure to check the calendar of events to see if you can catch a soccer game or concert during your visit instead. You can easily access the stadium via rail from Amsterdam, Utrecht, and the rest of the Dutch train network. • It is a very beautiful arena where red reigns. A group of people get a lot of information still in the reception hall and from there it is a save yourself who can, although there is always someone around is not a guided tour you get quite loose, this is bad because it lacks information and at the same time is good because as in my case I stayed as long as I thought necessary inside the arena. In the sequence we visit showcases with a few glasses and the press room, I found the hall of fame weak. For those who like football it's worth it....

  • Here for Holland v England friendly in March 2018, cracking stadium, stewards friendly-ish until full time when it became a bit tense in trying to exit although the local police didn't exactly help. Creates a great atmosphere. Was back in Amsterdam a few months later so did the stadium tour, which is excellent.
  • Even as a non-football fan, this was interesting (and free to visit with an iamsterdam card, including the metro from the city centre). Tour included dressing rooms for home and away team (very different!), taking the walk through the tunnel onto the pitch, sitting in the stands and some virtual reality. Guides were very amusing and enthusiastic. Ends with the shop, of course.
