Halaszbastya, Budapest

4.6
The seven fairy tale-like towers of Halaszbastya offer views of the Danube and Pest side of the city. Built in the late 19th century and restored after World War II, this Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanesque structure within World Heritage Site Buda Castle takes its name from the medieval fisherman who defended these city walls. On the Buda side of the city, walk up or take a funicular to the top of Castle Hill to get to the bastion, near the 14th-century Matthias Church. Step inside one of the seven towers for spectacular views across the Danube River. • Very nice place with a beautiful view over the river. Leave enough time so you can explore this area as there are many interesting things to see. If you are into photography you can take amazing photos here, especially if you get early while there are not so many people here.
  • Came back here multiple times during a short holiday in Budapest. It offers a great view on the parliament and on the Pest side of the city, and on the Danube. It deserves to be visited at all times of day, especially at dawn and at dusk, because it keeps changing shades of colour and atmosphere. Also, don't miss out on the multi colored tiles of the church's roof inside the bastion's walls.
