The Boboli Gardens, Florence
Behind Florence's Pritti Palace sits The Boboli Gardens, an outdoor sculpture museum. Designed for the Medici grand dukes in the 16th century, this is one of the earliest examples of the Italian Garden style that later inspired the green spaces of many European courts. Choose one of the garden's many trails and discover grottoes, fountains, and statues. The sculptures date from the 16th to the 18th century, with some Roman antiquities. Walk to the top of the hill at the back of the garden for views of Florence. Guided tours are available. The Boboli Gardens Reviews
Ok the gardens aren’t spectacular, but it is a welcome green space, away from the crowds and hustle and bustle of Florence. Contrary to previous reviews I found loads of benches to sit down, and spent... more »

Grand and majestic multi-leveled gardens that belonged to the Pitti Palace. Scenic and overlooking most of the central Florence area. There is a ceramics museum at the top, with a diverse collection from Florence, Vienna, and other cities. The ticket line is long, but moves fast. Highly recommended if it's your first time in Florence.
A lovely place to take some rest from the tourist crowds. The gardens are slightly shabby, but we enjoyed the ambiance - they felt very real and very Italian :) There are lots of benches in secluded areas, plenty of shade, and several restrooms. Bring snacks and water. Oh, and don’t miss the Porcelain museum! It’s included in the ticket price. Not the most amazing collection, but worth a glance. And the small yard in front of it offers some lovely views of the surroundings.
