Galleria Borghese is housed in a villa once used for elegant private parties. The art gallery contains a substantial part of a collection of paintings and sculptures amassed by Scipione Borghese, a 17th-century cardinal and art patron. Borghese was an early benefactor of artists Caravaggio and Bernini. You can explore 20 rooms across two floors. The main floor is mostly devoted to the period between the first and the third centuries, featuring mosaics of gladiators and several sculptures. In other sections of the gallery, you can see works by such artists as Canova, Raphael, Correggio, Titian, Rubens, and Veronese. An advance ticket, which you can book on the gallery's website, is required. The museum is set in a spectacular mansion with stunning artwork. You have to make a reservation in advance, and it's a little expensive, but it was by far the quietest museum we visited in Rome... more »

I was lucky enough to visit after the quarantine... I had the museum for myself. Incredible pieces of art, the ceilings, everything... One of the best museums in Rome. more »

Quite an amazing museum/gallery. The art work is truly spectacular and some are simply breathtaking. If you're considering which museums to go to when in Rome, this and the Vatican Museum are simply a must. The visit is managed well as they block out 2 hour slots for large groups of people. Some seating area which is well appreciated. No photos allowed. Make sure for both you make a reservation beforehand. You can also take a nice walk around the gardens which depending on weather would mean you can make a good half day out of the visit. Enjoy

Wonderful exhibition! Make sure you buy a ticket in advance and you are there on time! Great works of art exhibited! General admission is €22 ana young EU citizens (18-25) get in for €11. You are not allowed inside with a bag/backpack and you need to leave them with the wardrobe in advance. Can’t leave jackets though.
