Part of a former Franciscan convent, Museo della Porziuncola provides better understanding of the cult of St. Francis, one of the most venerated saints in history. Archival documents, archeological finds, period furnishings, and Renaissance artworks are displayed in chronological order. Climb a flight of stairs leading to the so-called Conventino--recently restored cells of friars, now hosting temporary exhibits of religious art. Mi ha emozionata moltissimo, ho pensato intensamente alla vita di San Francesco ed al suo Ordine espanso nel tempo. In Assisi every year on August 2nd the Feast of Forgiveness is celebrated, I was interested in "the indulgence of Porziuncola" or "Forgiveness of Assisi", sin is eliminated and the trawl of sin is eliminated, this happens with prayer, with strong belief and with the sacraments Eucharist and confession. Inside the structure I saw the paintings and frescoes kept in the former cells of the friars that became a museum, from The Porziuncola to the Transit to the Chapel of the Roses is a wonderful path where you are magnetized by the mystical atmosphere from the frescoes and frescoes and from the works. Memorable
Consiglio una guida per capire meglio quello che si visita e per entrare nel profondo della fede e vita di San Francesco more »I recommend a guide to better understand what you visit and to get into the depths of the faith and life of St. Francis
We made a pilgrimage from St. Clare, to St. DaMiano, to the Museo della Porziucola. We did not realize that we were retracing the last journey of St Francis before his death. He had gone to see Clare at DaMiano the day before his passing. What a beautiful and spiritual day. I highly recommend doing it.
