Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Veneto / Province of Venice / City of Venice / Venice / Museo di Palazzo Grimani
Get a glimpse into the extravagant lives of important Venetian families during the Renaissance at Museo di Palazzo Grimani, a restored palace that once belonged to Cardinal Giovanni Grimani. Located near Santa Maria Formosa, the site houses many artistic and cultural riches, such as a rare Hieronymous Bosch triptych. Walk inside to see the rooms complete with intricate stuccowork, frescoes, and gilt inlays. Check out the room titled Sala ai Fogliami and view the walls painted with flowers, greenery, and forest animals. Various art collections are on display within the palace; check the website for more information. If you purchase a ticket to the Academia Gallery, admission to the palace is included. Museo di Palazzo Grimani Reviews
A very well restored palazzo, home to one of Venice's greatest families. From the Renaissance courtyard you move to the first and second floors. The latter hosts temporary exhibitions; the former... more »
The Palazzo Grimani is rare find in Venice. It was decorated by Florentine and Roman artists, so it has a different feel from the Venetian palazzi. The ceiling frescos in several rooms are really... more »
It is a surprise in Venice. The Palace was the beautiful residence of one of the most important families in Venice: it ha been beautifully restored. Inside there was almost nothing left, but through various loans they have been able to put in a small beautiful collection of objects. The main surprise is that Giovanni Grimani was a Renaissance collector of Roman antiquities, and the final room is a wonderful reconstruction of his taste.
This is a scam! Stay away at all cost. It is advertised as an "ancient sculpture museum" but has literally about a room and a half of sculptures. Most of the museum is empty and yet they still charge you the full price of 13 euros to see a mediocre Bacchus and an ever worse Venus. False advertising, and a complete waste of money. Do not go there! 0/10
