  • We arrived an hour before it was due to close and the staff did say that we might need longer, personally it was perfect for us and hour was enough time to walk around all the various sections and as it was the end of their day there were very few people there. (We didn't use the audio guides). Interesting place and well worth a visit.
  • A true homage to an important art collector. Peggy Guggenheim had the foresight and the means to amass a magnificent collection of modern rt. She was also married to artist Max Ernst. Her home in Venice is now a museum exhibiting some of her collection. Some of my favourites are the Picasso and the Jackson Pollock. Peggy Guggenheim was a early supporter of Pollock and helped him gain international notoriety. The property along the canal is itself a work of art. The gardens show some of her sculpture collections and is in itself a tranquil spot to relax and take in the museum. I visited the museum early and it was not busy. I highly recommend that you call ahead and see when it is not so busy. There is something special about being in Peggy Guggenheims home looking at her art when there is only a few other people there. Almost makes you feel like your visiting Peggy and she will be out of the kitchen with a coffee for you. Wonderful. A must see if you are in Venice.
