Every Wednesday night, locals flood Piazza dei Signori to enjoy guitar-playing, watch flamenco dancers, and cheer on their favorite in the capoeira face-offs. During the day, shops and administrative offices fill it with people. The square came about in the Middle Ages, when the La Scala palace and other monumental buildings were built, creating a square in the center. Reach the square through one of the many loggias or arcades. Arrange to visit Piazza dei Signori and other attractions in Verona using our Verona online trip planner .

  • A more serious air square compared to the colourful Piazza delle Erbe. Erected in the Renaissance style with two wings of four arches opening to the square evaries historical constructions. I went through the city on the holiday of Ferragosto, it was well filled, but still you can notice all the grandeur of its constructions.

  • One of the attractions of Verona is the Piazza Signoria, on a hot day we managed to settle down in the shadow of houses in the square and listened with interest to our tour guide. The architecture of the old buildings, the statue of Dante, the prongs at the Palace of Justice.

  • Important landmark in Verona. It was the former centre of power in Verona. Around the beautiful square all important main buildings of the former city government, including the court and the seat of power of the Scaliger family, are located. A large statue by the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri has dominated the square since 1865 and gave the square the nickname “Piazza Dante".
  • This is truly one of the landmarks in Verona, it's amazing how history attracts tourists. Restrooms are available at 1€ or à little less, variety of restaurants and statues of iconic people the likes of Dante Alighieri etc mostly graves of Christ Disciples. It's scary yet very interesting to read about such. No parking though, the roads are too narrow but plenty reliable public transport etc
