Kasbah du Pacha el Glaoui, Telouet

#4 of 15 in Historic Sites in Souss-Massa
Must see · Historic Site · Tourist Spot
Delve into the world of the Lord of the Atlas at Kasbah du Pacha el Glaoui, home to T'hami el Glaoui, the early 20th century governor of Marrakesh and his family. This architectural site with several treed patios was T'hami el Mezouari's family residence from where he ruled the country as a warlord and chieftain of the Glaoua tribe between 1912 and 1956. Overlooking the Imarene River, the residence features typical local and Andalusian-style d├ęcor with ornate rooms that showcase the site's former luxury. Explore crumbling passageways and maze-like corridors. The entrance is guarded, but you can ask the guard at the entrance to open the residence and give you a tour (for an adequate tip).
