#4 of 10 in Wildlife in Oslo
Known as a wildlife reserve with a large local bird population, Ostensjovannet Lake serves as a popular place for recreational activity. The park is surrounded by a 4.5 km (2.8 mi) trail that connects to a large network of paths through the nearby Oslo forests. As the city's largest wetland, it also provides a natural habitat to over 200 species of birds. The surrounding area also bears cultural history, with remnants of farming communities as early as 500 CE. Hike along the trail to observe these, as well as relics of the Viking Age.
