View three actual Viking ships, the Soeberg, the Gokstad, and the Tune, and learn more about their history at Viking Ship Museum. The ships were built between 800 and 900, and were excavated in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Displays give information on how they were found and preserved. The Tune ship was the first Viking ship to be unearthed and remains the third best-preserved ship in the world. Also, see the artifacts that were buried with each ship, such as carts, sleds, cooking gear, and more. Be sure to climb up into the designated viewing areas that allow you to see each ship from a different perspective and fully appreciate their size. If you have your smartphone with you, you can scan the barcodes associated with the exhibits to receive more detailed information online. • There were only in the Museum of Viking ships. Let's just say--little. The room is small, when the building came up-at first did not believe that it is a museum. • People who are into Viking history should definitely not miss this place out. If you are traveling to Norway, Oslo, for any reason whatsoever, come to this place and I bet you, you won't regret one bit. It's a small museum but highlights and focuses the traveling aspects of the Viking era. Historical items in the place consists of models of Viking boats, weapons etc. They play a beautiful video clip about the transition of the Viking age and to be honest, it's a must watch. The other best part about the trip here is the fact that the ticket for this place can be used to visit another awesome museum called "Historical Museum", not far from this place. Keep exploring and keep learning... Happy journey...
  • The museum has two Viking ships in various conditions. The biggest one is in fairly good shape. It is displayed so you can look at it from above and below giving you an idea how it was built. There are also other Viking artifact at the museum. It is easy and inexpensive to get to the museum by ferry from the Oslo City Hall. From the ferry landing the museum is about a 5 to 10 minutes walk.
