Hold your breath as you cross Bridge of Sighs, and if you make it to the other side without exhaling, your true love might just appear before your eyes. In deference to a local legend, unmarried women looking for love attempt to cross the red wooden bridge in one breath, releasing the sighs that give the bridge its name as they reach the other side. If your dream partner doesn't appear within a few minutes of your crossing, console yourself by returning to the center of the bridge and gazing west. You'll enjoy a view over the Pacific Ocean as other breathless hopefuls pass behind you. Bridge of Sighs Reviews
El Puente de los Suspiros es un importante monumento en la bonita zona de Barranco. Se dice que si logras aguantar la respiración y cruzar el puente de punta a punta, tus deseos se volverán realidad. ... more »The Bridge of Sighs is an important monument in the beautiful area of Barranco. It is said that if you manage to hold your breath and cross the bridge from end to end, your desires will come true. In this quiet place there are beaches, parks, restaurants and shops that wait for you to discover them. The road from the bridge takes you to a cliff facing the sea. Follow the path that borders the hermitage to reach a point from which you will have a great panorama of the ocean and the horizon. Cross the bridge at night so you can see how it lights up with a romantic glow. It is approximately 44 meters long and is wide enough for five or six people to cross it at once. You should take the most of your camera and take photos of the landscape, covered with trees and colorful flowers. A favorite place is the statue of Peruvian singer-songwriter Chabuca Granda, author of a composition about the bridge. Taking a walk in the area will make you discover the old houses of past times, which are painted with all the colors of the rainbow. You should never stop trying some of the delicious delicacies offered by the various restaurants and small cafes that are distributed throughout the area. Like everything has its legend that says that... the daughter of a wealthy man was forbidden to see the man she loved, because she was a simple sweeper With a broken heart, she stood by her bedroom window and sighed with such melancholy that the people who crossed the bridge could hear her. This area is known for its bohemian atmosphere that attracts writers, musicians and artists. You can easily get there by taking a taxi south of the city's central district, about 18 kilometers. The area has several beaches, of which the beach is Playa Barranco and Playa las Cascadas. Visiting Barranco is always something special. Walking its bohemian streets full of Bars and Cafes, Restaurants and Discos, well-kept squares and spectacular Casonas, transport you to a special, and friendly place. It's my wife's favorite place. We've been day and night. We never get tired and we must go back. It is one of the places you can not miss when traveling to Lima. The bridge has undergone a series of reconstructions to this day, but it is still part of Lima's tourist icons.
