  • Ancient palace fortified during Muslim rule, this is where almost all the kings of the first dynasty were born. The Royal Palace is especially worth a visit for its imposing Actes room with a coffered ceiling and a royal portrait gallery. Students take courses sitting on wooden benches.

  • It’s very well kept older craftsmanship when visiting the royal chapel and library inside. This is a real university with students around the place.
  • Nice old buildings but 90% of the palace is not open to tourists. The Library is usually fully booked by tour groups. At 10am in mid September the only available time to visit it was at 1240pm. We could not wait that long, unfortunately. So this review is of the other areas. As with many attractions, huge bus groups fill up the rooms and virtually refuse to allow other visitors to get by. Why don't places like this ask the guides to leave a bit of room for other paying visitors to get in, or get past their group while they listen to a 15 minute spiel?
